NEWS:
The first quarter of 2018 went by in a flash! A most successful one for ATC Members, if the results contained in this newsletter is anything to go by. And not just on the sports field. We have already congratulated many couples on engagements and marriages this year and there have been three births. And these are just the ones we know of.
This week, around 100 of us are off to Port Elizabeth to take up “pole position” at the Ironman African Champs as the TriClub with the most entrants at the event. Hopefully we will earn the most points at the race to extend our lead in Division II of this competition.
CTCT & OMTOM
Two of the Cape’s premier events, the Cape Town Cycle Tour and Two Oceans Marathon, are behind us and the results we collected for these events to date are shown at the bottom of this email. We would like to publish the members with the best combined times in these events but will give members a chance to verify their results before we do. Please check and use the links provided to capture your result if we don’t have it yet.

Embark’s Coached Group Training Program for the Knysna Forest Marathon and Half started on Monday. The Knysna Marathon is tough but possibly the most beautiful marathon you will ever do. The Half Marathon is a fast “downhill” race and one of the best courses for that sought-after PB! Embark has set up a 12-Week program that combines all the necessary training so that you can feel confident going into the race. Beginners going for a finish or intermediate runners going for a PB can contact steve@embark.co.za for more details or visit: www.embark.co.za

WIN ATC KIT!
The first member to tell us who won ATC’s only gold medal at a Two Oceans event will win a set of running kit! Hint: The person did not run Two Oceans this year but is mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter or related Links.
WPA Road Runs
Loads of ATC’ers did various WPA sanctioned road runs in the first quarter of the year. We have published our members’ results for some of the bigger events, listed below. Follow the links to view results in detail. If this year’s Bay 2 Bay and Peninsula events are anything to go by, there seems to be a definite trend amongst ATC’ers to do more long-distance runs. Two thirds of ATC’ers participating in these events did the longer of the two routes on offer.
We have updated the results previously published for the Bay 2 Bay 30 and 15 Km, in which around 180 members participated on Sunday 14 January 2018. Jana Trojan (VOB) was the 2nd lady in the 50+ category over this distance.
Red Hill Marathon and Classic, 27 January 2018: Jana Trojan (VOB) was the 2nd lady in the 50+ category in the Marathon and Victoria Reuvers (Wildrunner) was the 3rd lady in the 35+ Category in the 36 Km Classic event.
Over 90 ATC’ers tackled the Peninsula Marathon and over 40 opted for the Half on Sunday 18 February 2018. Mark Hankin, Nic De Beer (KPMG) and Shaun Gregory all ran Sub-3 in the Marathon. Jana Trojan (VOB) won the Female 50+ category. In the Half, Michael Joseph and Dean Hopf posted sub-90s.
Milkwood Half & 10K - 25 February 2018: Congratulations to Greg Goodall (5th, 1:18, 2nd Senior) and Mike Ginsberg (6th, 1:18, 3rd Senior) who finished in the top 10 at the Half Marathon!
Tygerberg 30K – 4 March 2018: A great Training run for members training for Ironman and Two Oceans.
