WPTA SGM and Committee
A reminder of the WP Triathlon Special General Meeting, which is taking place this (Wednesday) evening at 19:00 at the Green Point Cricket Club. We urge registered triathletes to please attend the SGM as major changes to the WPTA constitution will be adopted at the SGM.
ATC Club Time Trial – New Balance
Last Wednesday, New Balance showcased their latest shoes at our club time trial with shoe experts on hand to answer runners’ technical questions. Runners also had the opportunity to trial the shoes for the Time Trial. ATC Members can visit the RUN shop in Bree Street at any time for advice on shoes and will receive 20% discount on any New Balance shoes or 10% discount on any other brand.
ATC Members can also get 20% discount on any gear from the New Balance Concept Store in Canal Walk.
ATC Club Champs – Standard Distance
The Durbanvillie Triathlon, taking place on the 16th of April will also double up as WP Duathlon Championships. Traditionally, ATC has used the WP Triathlon and Duathlon Championship events to select its Club Champs for the Standard Distance Triathlon and Duathlon. As there has not been a WP Triathlon Champs this season, ATC will use the Durbanville Triathlon event to select these champs. The first Male and Female ATC Members to finish the Durbanville Triathlon and Duathlon will be crowned ATC Champs for 2016 in these disciplines.
Entries for the Durbanville Triathlon and Duathlon close at midnight at the 11th of April 2016 or when capacity is reached. No late entries will be accepted. To enter the Triathlon, please visit: http://www.iqela-events.co.za/durbanville-tri/durbanville-tri-info.html

Embark Training for Knysna Forest Marathon
As the Embark Ironman, ITU and Beginner groups conclude their training and taper towards their target events, we welcome the new batch of runners training towards the Knysna Forest Marathon and Half. Orientation for this 12 week program, which will combine all the necessary training and techniques to prepare you for either of these events, took place last night at the Green Point Cricket Club. To find out what the program is all about, please contact STeve@embark.co.za
Two Two Oceans in a month
On Friday, or when weather permits, Chris Loker and over 20 seasoned open water swimmers will attempt one of the most breath taking swims in the world, to raise funds for The Little Fighters Cancer Trust. This organisation offers varied support to children with cancer and their families in paediatric oncology hospital wards, individual family homes as well as places of safety, which houses children with cancer.
This extreme 8 Km ocean swim stretches from Diaz Beach on the western side of Cape Point, to Buffels Bay on the Eastern side and will take swimmers through the point where the two “oceans” meet. For Chris this will be his second Two Oceans this month as he also did the Ultra Marathon last week. For more information and to donate funds towards Chris’ attempt, please visit: https://www.backabuddy.co.za/champion/project/swim-for-hope-2016. All proceeds will go to The Little Fighters Cancer Trust
