NEWS:

ATC Team Competition

As all entrants know by now, a mistake has crept in with the Individual Finishers T-Shirts and “TEAM” was printed on these as well.  These will be handed to individuals at the finish, but the correct T-Shirts will be mailed to individual finishers after the event. 

To ensure that ATC’ers can wear both T-Shirts with pride, we will run our own team competition for members racing as individuals.  We will combine the results of three individuals wishing to form a team and will get some cool prizes for the Fastest Team and the Most Spirited Team.  The team name and team spirit demonstrated on social media before and after the event will be used to determine the Most Spirited Team.  (Not the amount of liquid consumed at the after party although teams spirit exhibited here will still be taken into consideration).  Please tag @AtlanticTriClub and #ATCIM703BCTC in your posts.

All you need to do to enter the ATC IM703 BC Team Competition is pick two team mates, decide who is the captain and get him / her to register your team here:  Click Here to Register for ATCIM703BCTC   

All team members must be ATC Members and their names and race numbers must appear on the list of entrants shown further down in this email.  A member can only belong to one team so please consult your team mates before claiming them.

If we have omitted your name from the list, please email us to correct.

Swim Practise in East London

There is no swimming allowed on Orient Beach this week / weekend before the race, hence no official swim practice.  We are still planning a practice swim on Saturday morning at one of the other beached and will let you know the details via the ATC Swimming Training WhatsApp Group.

ATC / Embark Group Dinner

We were unable to secure a group booking for dinner on Friday evening, but we do have a booking at Grazia on Saturday evening at 18:30.  If you would like to join us for dinner on Saturday evening, please click here to reserve a slot.

TSA License / Day License

All triathletes who still wish to register as members with TSA to avoid paying the day license fee Ironman 70.3 Registration MUST contact us immediately (Tuesday)!  The final cut-off for registration is today; from tomorrow (Wednesday) the day license fee will be applicable.  If you have registered, you would have received a “/18” TSA License number by email already.  License numbers are also indicated next to the entrant name in the list further down.  Note that 2017 licenses are no longer valid.

ATC Transition Bag

The ATC Triathlon Transition bag was specifically designed for events such as Ironman 70.3 and can make your life a lot easier when you rack before the race and remove your bags and bike from transition afterwards.  The bag has a wet compartment for your wetsuit and some smaller compartments for money, cell phone, etc.  Once you have racked your bike and placed all your Bike and Run gear on the racks, the ATC Transition Bag can be collapsed to easily fit into your street gear bag, along with your other clothes needed after the race (do not leave valuables in your street gear bag!). 

After the race, everything you need to remove from transition (wetsuit, shoes, race kit, etc) will fit in the bag, which you can then safely and comfortably carry on your back while you ride your bike back to the hotel (with your helmet on your head).

The bag is available to ATC Members for R900 and non-members for R1100.

We will NOT have any Club Rides or CANAL SWIM this week as most of us are heading to East London for the Half Ironman.

RUN:  We will have a Track session on Tuesdays at 06:00 and on Wednesdays at 18:00.  Sessions will be on the Green Point Athletics Track unless events are taking place there.  In that case, track will be at the Green Point Cricket Club (across the road).

Good luck to all the runners doing the Red Hill Classic (36 Km) and Marathon on Saturday.  Let’s hope for great qualifying times!

On Sunday there is the first event in the PPA Cyclosportif Series, taking place from the Windmeul Winery, near Paarl / Wellington.  There are two routes available, 91 Km and 38 Km.  This series of 6 events will count towards your seeding for the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

Next week Tuesday is the second event in the Spur Cape Summer Trail Series, a twilight / night run in Kirstenbosch.
