Training This Week – CTUTA AGM – Women’s Day Breakfast Ride

WPTA / Cape Town Unicity Triathlon Association AGM ‘17
The Cape Town Unicity Triathlon Association (CTUTA) will have its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 23 August 2017 at 19:30, at the Cape Town Fish Market, Clock Tower, V&A Waterfront.  Please see below for the preliminary agenda.
1. Welcome
2. New CTUCTA Constitution
3. Affiliation Requirements / Procedure
4. New Website
5. General
6. Closing
Should you wish to raise an issue to be discussed at the AGM, please contact Lynn on Admin@WCTriathlon.co.za.  If you would like the ATC representative at the meeting to raise an issue on your behalf, please contact Admin@ATCMultisport.co.za.
The Constitution to be adopted by CTUTA was adapted from the former Western Province Triathlon Association (WPTA) Constitution.  It isn’t practical to publish all the proposed changes in this newsletter but the complete Constitution, with all changes highlighted, will be distributed to all currently affiliated clubs later this week.  It will also be published at various on-line locations for download.
Below is a summary of pertinent changes that you may want to view in more detail:
1)       Club Membership remains compulsory for any Triathlete wishing to affiliate (get a Triathlon License) through CTUTA.  This has been the case since 2012.
2)       The Quorum at the AGM will be based on the number of affiliated clubs represented and not the number of individual members.  Individual members will always be welcome to attend the AGM but voting will be done per club.  This was decided at the 2016 AGM of WPTA.
3)       The types of membership of the CTUTA, that of, Individual Members, Clubs and Teams will remain and one more category will be added, for Training Academies.  Club affiliation will only be for voluntary non-profit organisations and new rules with regards to commercial interests of clubs and management committees are being introduced.
Due to the nature of the above changes and the fact that this is the first AGM of CTUTA, where the Constitution will be adopted for the first time, the current Committee has decided as follows:
The Quorum at the AGM will be based on the number of affiliated clubs represented – 50% + 1 of currently affiliated clubs.
ALL registered Triathletes from the previous two seasons, Sep 2015 – Aug 2016 and Sep 2016 – Aug 2017, will also be allowed to vote.
We urge members to attend the AGM in order to finalise the above and prepare for the new season.
CTUTA will release an on-line RSVP form this week.  In the meantime, please like and follow the WCTA Facebook Page and the CTUTA AGM 17 Event.  You are welcome to comment on the Facebook Posts but please note that any matters you wish to raise for discussion must be done through the email addresses shown above.

Breedenet Cape Duo Challenge
When the world’s first multi discipline multi-stage cycling event takes place in the Western Cape this October, it will put to rest an age-old question of who is better on the bike:  Roadies or Mountain Bikers?
The Cape Duo Challenge is a four-day, multi-discipline cycling event competing both on and off-road, swapping bicycles for different stages in picturesque locations including Slanghoek Valley, Welvanpas and Bainskloof Pass. Entries are limited to 300 pairs of amateur cyclists.  According to organisers there has never been a multi-day stage race which combines both on- and off-road cycling, with accumulative points, so the Cape Duo Challenge could provide the opportunity to see who the best all-round cyclist is.  The beneficiary of the Cape Duo Challenge is Ground Level Projects, which provides less fortunate children in grades one to seven with education and transport.
The multi-stage cycling event is sanctioned by the Pedal Power Association and takes place from Thursday, 5 October to Sunday, 8 October 2017 at a cost of R 9 950 per team. Enter your team at www.capeduo.com. Closing date for entries is 10 September 2017.
Happy Women’s Day and enjoy the short week!
