Affiliation to TSA & WPTA

All Triathlons and Duathlons, on-road and off-road, including IRONMAN and XTERRA, are sanctioned by Triathlon South Africa (TSA) and / or Western Province Triathlon Association (WPTA).  You have to be licensed to participate.  Certain multisport events, which include some or all of the triathlon disciples, are not sanctioned but are then not allowed to use the term Triathlon.  
 
TSA Membership runs from 1 September to 31 August.  The year is roughly split into two seasons:
  • Triathlon season is from September to April.
  • Duathlon season is from April to August.
Affiliation to TSA is done through a Day License you purchase for each event or an annual TSA registration.  You have to be a member of a recognised triathlon club in order to do an annual registration with TSA.  

Fees for Sep 2020 to Aug 2021

Day License:  R35 for Sprint events and R120 for Olympic Distance and longer.
Annual Recreational License (only available through WCTA / CTTA ):  R 300
Annual Full Racing License:  Seniors R 310 - Juniors R 300
Note that the above fees are effective 1 Sep 2020.  There is an "early bird" fee (same as last year) in place for September.

To complement and promote TSA Membership, ATC has re-introduced the Atlantic Triathlon Club membership.  Triathletes can now join the Atlantic Triathlon Club for an annual membership fee of R325 and enjoy all the swim / bike / run training facilities on offer.  ATC Multisport and Triathlon Club members can purchase TSA licenses at the rates are shown on our Membership Pages and On-Line Shop.
 
This membership is also aimed members who wish to remain with other swimming, cycling or running clubs but want to venture into Triathlons or Duathlons.  Triathlon Club members can upgrade to Multisport membership, should they wish to obtain a Swimming, Cycling or Running license as well.

Triathlon Gear

ATC’s Triathlon kit has been approved by WCTA / CTTA and will be permitted at all events in the province.  ATC strongly recommends that you race in our gear but you will be permitted to race in any gear of your choice, as long as it conforms to the rules set out by ITU.  If you do not race in ATC gear or if you belong to a recognised team, you will be required to apply an ATC club badge to your gear.  At the National Championships you will be required to race in provincial colours.  At ATU and ITU events you will have to race in national colours (if selected for the SA team) or kit fully compliant to ITU rules.
 

How to get a license:

1)  If you haven't yet, Join or Renew your Atlantic Triathlon Club or ATC Multisport Membership through our On-Line Shop.

2)  If your membership is up-to-date, you can go directly www.triathlonsa.co.za and click on "Buy License" on the home page to acces the TSA Member Portal. 

3)  Follow the prompts to provide your information.  You select Cape Town Unicity Triathlon as the Region and Atlantic Triathlon Club as the Club.

4)  Proceed to the payment page and pay the required fee  .  Only Credit Cards are accepted at the moment.  If you do not have a credit card and would like to buy a license, please contact ATC.

4)  TSA will email your license number to you.

 

ATC would strongly recommend a Recreational License!  We have launched a special Atlantic Triathlon Club membership to support this.  If you want to podium at Provincials or be selected for Nationals, get the Full TSA license.
